I have recently left a beloved position at a residential program, where I had the opportunity to work with adults living with disabilities. These inspiring people opened my eyes to the great possibilities each day brings us. The ability to take each day and make it something new and exciting is exactly what I think is the best part of working with people of all different shapes, sizes, and ability levels. While working within this facility I was responsible for everyday grooming, hygiene, and health care of eight semi-dependent adults. Additionally, I was responsible for meal preparation, transportation, and light scheduling of events. The most enjoyable part of my experience working within this community of individuals was the ability to take part in the variety of vocational and recreational activities provided. These activities ranged from flower arrangement preparation, farming, food and drink deliveries, arts and crafts, and triweekly recreational outings. This employment opportunity allowed me to realize every day is a new chance to assist someone in making a new personal achievement. These achievements are beautiful no matter how great or small.
