I have been at this position for 2 months. I also work with a few individuals in their homes as needed/on call. Before bridge I was employed as an educational assistant in one of their special education rooms. I spent 3 years with Bridge's day program and was also employed for four years with two group home agencies in IL. I have had 9 years of experience working with individuals with disabilities in a professional setting, and I also provided care to my cousin with special needs while I was in high school. I have worked with many different disabilities and with some individuals with mental illness. I know basic sign language, CPR, First Aid and I am familiar with basic diabetic care (blood sugar check and insulin injection). Working with people with disabilities has transformed from a part-time job in college to something I hope to continue doing for the rest of my life. It is my life's passion and I couldn't imagine what my life would be without the sometimes challenging, always inspirational, experiences I have had so far. Currently, I am looking for part-time/on call shifts in September. I will be available most week nights and some weekends.
