I am studying to be an elementary school teacher, with an endorsement in special education. I have grown up with my uncle, who has Down Syndrome. He also has diabetes, so I understand restrictive diets. My mom is a Para-educator for the Puyallup School District, and I have been able to learn many things from her first-hand experience. My brother also as ADHD, and I have to help him stay on track for various activities. For the past year and a half or so, I have been a tutor. I have worked with all ages, and many students with severe learning disorders. One of my students was Autistic and ESL. In my senior year of high school, I took multiple education courses, and as a part of those classes, we had to go into local schools 2-3 times a week. I worked in a 6th and 9th grade classroom, and worked with the students who were most behind.
