My brother is on the autism spectrum with PDD and a sensory processing disorder. I am patient enough to work with him and love every minute spent with him. Watching him develop has honestly been one of the greatest rewards in my life, and I look forward to his continued growth every day! The relationship I have with my brother inspired me to pursue a teaching career in special education. Currently, I am teaching 3rd-5th grade in Cincinnati as an intervention specialist. I recently re-located back to Cincinnati after completing two years with Teach for America (TFA) in South Louisiana where I taught 1st and 2nd grade special education. I joined TFA upon graduation from Indiana University in 2012. This competitive program seeks recent college graduates and trains them to teach in under-resourced public schools across the nation. Right now, I am certified to teach in the state of Louisiana (Elementary 1-5, and Special Education Mild-Moderate 1-5). I am also a certified Intervention Specialist K-12 in the state of Ohio. This being said, I can offer homework assistance and tutoring, as well as bring learning into your home as you see fit! I am willing to get certified in any of the above. I am CPI trained and certified. This is common in school settings but trains individuals in de-escalating students and clients through verbal and body language when they are in crisis.
