I have helped out various kids with both behavioral and development delays in my classes growing up. I often would get paired up with them for school projects because I was able to work with them and adapt, which many kids in my classes couldn't do. I also am extremely patient when working with others, and if something doesn't work, I try to find a way to make it work. In high school I took a school service class, and in that class I volunteered in the life skills classroom that my school had. I worked with a girl who was in a wheelchair and had various mental/developmental problems and used a computer/sticker system to communicate. I worked with kids with developmental delays in that class as well. In other classes, I helped kids with Down syndrome and autism with various group projects. I am passionate about helping people with special needs because they always have such a great spirit about them.
