I am currently working as a nanny for a 8 yr old special needs boy with fragile x. I love doing what I do and it is even more so rewarding to work with special needs people. This is my first professional job working with a special needs child, but in college I was in an organization called best buddies. I was in this organization for two years. I was paired with a down syndrome woman. My only role was to be her friend and hangout with her on the weekend which I was more than happy to do. I only left the organization because I didn't have a car in college and I had to get rides to visit my buddy so when she changed group homes I had no one to take me to go see her so I had to stop and let her be paired with someone else. I did still keep in touch through letters and phone calls. I also volunteered for the special Olympics as a little girl with my mom.
