I grew up around a dear family friend who was born with Cerebral Palsy, due to a doctor's mistake. I grew up changing his diapers and feeding him through a feeding tube as well as singing to him and making him laugh. From this family friend, I became interested in the special needs community and have worked as a teacher's aide in a school for adults with special needs (for 4 years), a camp counselor for special needs children (for 4 summers) and a one on one counselor, also known as a shadow, for children with special needs (for 4 summers). I just received my masters to be a special ed teacher and am now attending Rutgers to obtain a post graduate certification in ABA to work with children with severe autism.
