During my college years, my grandmother, who helped raised me, was diagnosed with a brain tumor pressing on her optic nerve. Though she underwent surgery, her prognosis was far from promising, which resulted in blindness, as well as numerous disabilities. The illness was extremely prolonged, yet I continued to give her unconditional care and love. During this hardship, I continued my matriculation, thus earning a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education at William Paterson University. My professional training afforded me the opportunity to teach a multitude of children. My experience included students with special needs as well as those not identified as having special needs. These experiences have allowed me to conclude that ALL children are special! My most passionate accomplishment was giving birth to my premature son weighing 3 pounds, who through my love, dedication and my faith, is now a beautiful, healthy and brilliant young man. I am who I am today, because of my gift of caring and realizing there is strength in laughter!
