I have cared for a girl for a special needs girl for five years (from age 12 to 17 now) who is mildly retarded, has ADHD, and oppositional defiant disorder (ODD). I am with her 30 hours a week approximately. I engage in directing her daily activities at home, cook, occasional driving for special events, and errands. I have given the children my honesty and compassion. I bond easily with special needs children. They give so much to me with their honesty and compassion also! I also cared for a boy, who is a friend of the above, who is autistic and partially deaf. I provided general baby-sitting type of work. The two like to play together on occasion. I worked for his parents for about seven months, but due to some financial issues, I see him only occasionally now. I am open to on-call work, however because my primary client's mother is a nurse, therefore my work days alternate every week which creates a bit of a scheduling challenge. I am flexible when need be. Other Qualifications: Certificate in drafting, three years of study in interior design, volunteer/homeless shelter for two and a half years. Admissions clerk at psychiatric hospital for two years. I am a Christian. I am a fine artist. I grow my own vegetables. Love pets! I've worked with a girl from age 12 to age 17 (as of July 2012) with three mental challenges. Ive also worked with autistic boy for almost a year who was deaf in both ears.
