I have worked with the special needs community for over 10 years in a high school and in-home setting. I have been a part of teams to help set up teaching and behavioral programs. I have taught basic life skills and hygiene, helped manage seizures with a VNS, and experience working as a job coach. I have worked with many types of communication devices. I have done my nursing assistant training and will be working on my diabetes care training. I also have my fundamentals of caregiving. With all that being said, I just really truly love working with this community. It has been very rewarding for me to watch each person I have worked with grow and reach each milestone. I love all the connections I have made with each individual, when I get a hug from someone who does not like to be touched, or when I get eye contact or just that smile - it makes all the hard work worth it. This is what I love to do and I love to help make life just a little better for everyone I work with.

I am a certified teacher, and Amber worked with me as a para-educator with children and young adults with developmental disabilities for over 10 years. She is an amazing employee, very caring, and attends to detail. She related well to staff and students, and respects boundaries of confidentiality with families and vulnerable students. She is a quick study, and can learn to work with any child or young adult given directions. She is very responsible and understands children with disabilities and it shows in her ability to follow through with all aspects of program and care. I also know her on a more personal level, as as a teenager, she was a caregiver for my own children. I highly recommend her for this type of employment.
