I remember being about 8, my mother, brother and two sisters walking with a quick pace rushing to get to school. Then I see a golden coat moving about in a bush of leaves on Cesar Chavez Street. I began walking towards this creature not knowing what it was I knew I just needed to get to it. In the process of reaching for it I must have not seen the pole in front of me which dropped me to the ground only to look up and see my sister with a tiny cat in her arms. We begged our mom to keep her "Precious", mother said if no one takes her today you can have her. I remember being so uneasy all day because I didn't want anyone to take my cat. It was meant for me to find her and bring her to a home. I know my mom was preaching about a baby cat needing a home, and I was stating it has a home, our home. Finally three o'clock came and no one could take the cat so leaping for joy, all of us walked home with a new member to our family. That was my first experience caring for an animal. Since then I've had many fish, one dog, and several birds. "Kevin", is a friend's current cat when he needs me to pet sit for him I do my job as a proud mommy. I would do anything for an animal under my care.
