About Valerie

I love tutoring because I'm passionate about helping people get caught up & love those "aha" moments. I've taught in numerous fields to almost every age! Some favorite subjects have been outdoor education, adult personal finance, swing dancing, & English as a Second Language. I also love tutoring elementary, especially early readers! As a substitute teacher in Howell I often work one-on-one & in small groups with students. Because I sub in all grades I'm familiar with what students should know in each grade. I also have experience with children and teens with special needs in & out of schools. I'm a certified English as a Second Language teacher(TESOL) & have taught & tutored aged kids 2-10 in reading, writing, & speaking English one-on-one & in small groups. I taught in China for a year. I've also been an in-class kindergarten tutor & a university tutor for failing students on academic probation. I love make learning fun & have a lot of great strategies to do it!
