For 2 years I was an aide for a junior high in a special education, cross categorical classroom. I worked one on one with a 12-year-old girl with cerebral palsy for the majority of my day. I also worked with a student with Down syndrome, a student with ADHD, and multiple students with autism. I also have 9 months of experience being an after school nanny for an 8-year-old with PDD-NOS and a neuro-typical 11-year-old girl. I have a lot of patience and persistence. I am very good at redirecting undesired behaviors. I am even-tempered and very good at staying calm in all situations. It is truly rewarding and heart warming when I notice a small, positive change in the people I am working with. It's like my heart does a jump for joy. It is one of the best feelings in the world!
