For the past 15 years, I have been a 1:1 aide to a young man who is quadriplegic due to a spinal stroke in the womb. This has basically been a full-time job during the school year as I have been with him all day during his classes and then on to be with him and his family for a few hours afterward as well. His mom has called me their "Nanny Extraordinaire" and "The finder of all things". People always tell me that the family is lucky to have me but I feel it is the other way around, I feel very lucky and honored to be with them. Now that he has graduated from High School I am only needed on a part-time basis and I'm looking for the perfect position to add to my day.
