About Tanya

I'd describe my personality as warm, gregarious, responsible. I like working with kids because their curiosity and joyfulness is contagious. I'm looking for a job that enables me to help parents and children have an easier time getting through the week, while being another source of homework help, confidence building and entertainment for the children. I started working with kids when I was a teenager babysitting for the toddlers in my apartment complex. After raising my own children, I began working with children again teaching Kung Fu to 5-18-year-olds. In my spare time, I like to write, play chess and teach kung fu. One thing you should know about me is I stay busy, mostly teaching. I recently semi-retired from a high-stress career and am now doing the things I love: teaching kung fu, teaching a college course and child care. My skills include attentive listening, meeting the child where he/she is, empathetic affection.
