Growing up with a developmentally disabled sibling, a passion for care-taking blossomed organically for me. My oldest sister was diagnosed with autism at an early age, and with that came a plethora of challenges. Some of my most treasured memories from childhood revolve around the chaotic situations that day to day life with a severely autistic sibling brings. Professionally, I have spent the past five years of my life dedicated to helping those with developmental disabilities, specifically individuals with aggressive behaviors. I started by spending a couple years working with adults living in a group home setting. I then moved to Milwaukee to explore working in a school setting. In my time there, I worked closely with every age group from pre-school to high school. I spent a lot of time learning from amazing teachers how to overcome challenging and aggressive behaviors. During the summer, I provided daytime in-home care for an autistic 5-year-old, as well as working one-on-one with special needs students at summer school.
