My Name is Sherwood. In January 2021, I relocated from Washington, DC, to San Juan, Puerto Rico after 8 (long) years in DC. I work remotely in digital marketing, but I have an open, flexible schedule with 13+ years of experience as both a full-time and part-time nanny. When it comes to childcare, I like to focus on supervised free-play, maximizing outdoor time, arts & crafts, music, and sports. I practice a gentle parenting approach, and I value routine, minimal screen time and a high level of communication between myself and the parent(s) at all times. I have extensive experience with children with autism, dyslexia, and anger management & separation anxiety, and am familiar with Waldorf & Montessori education methods.

Sherwood has been a simply amazing nanny. She cared for our little girl from age 1-2, and our new little boy from birth until 3 months. She joined us at just the right time for our toddler, bringing with her a calmness and patience that I can still only attempt to imitate, as her composure has been the perfect way to teach our little girl when she is in a period of testing us with every developmental milestone. Sherwood’s ease in dealing with the tough toddler moments (screaming, throwing food, the usual!) are matched only by the joy she shares in teaching our little one how to play and learn, both on her own and with others. She obviously cares very deeply for our little ones, and I have always felt so safe and reassured with her in charge. My little girl simply adores her, and has learned and developed so much under her supervision. I feel lucky to have had her with us at such pivotal moments in our children’s lives and know that she will continue to impress in whatever she puts her heart and mind into.
