I actually do not have any experience caring for kids with specials needs. I have been around children with special needs and I instantly fall in love and bond with them. Last year on my spring break in 2013 I went on a mission to Jamaica and we spent our first day at an orphanage and that's when I noticed my connection with special needs kids. This little boy around the age of eight came up and was just immediately drawn to me and wouldn't leave my side not even for a second. Instead of treating him like he was different I treated him like I was treating every other child there. When he bit me I would get him in trouble and ask if he would like me to bite him back or when he stole a toy from another child I would take the toy and make him give it back to the child and apologize and then we would sit and talk about why it wasn't okay for him to take a toy away from someone else. As the trip went on and we went to other parts of Jamaica I couldn't help but realize that a special needs child would find me or I would find them at every place we went. It is amazing the impact special needs children have on my life and all I want to do is try my hardest to make an impact on theirs.
