About Shayla

Hello! Nice to meet you, most people call me Shay. I'm a graduate student in English at Fordham University. I have 8+ years of experience as a childcare professional, and I've cared for children ranging from infants to high school age and families with up to five kids. I have four years of nanny experience, but I've also worked in an after-school program, a summer camp, as a classroom lead, and as a tutor. I'm also a certified birth and postpartum doula with specialty training in holistic healing. In terms of infant care, I have taken the entire Taking Cara Babies Sleep and Schedule courses in all age groups, and I have experience with baby-lead weaning, baby wearing, and BF + bottle support. For older kids, I have a background in Montessori education (I attended and then worked at a Montessori school!), as well as positive reinforcement, redirection, and boundary building. I've also taken a course in children's nutrition.
