About Shawna

I started working with kids in my early 20's. I was managing an espresso bar in Seattle Children's Hospital, I started volunteering and was inspired. I was chosen for the Americorps NCCC, for about 14 months, doing community service projects. Working with at-risk youth in elementary, we set up reading programs, food programs as well as Environmental work like saving an endangered native bird species. When returning home I was given the opportunity to be lead teacher of an infant room with 6 infants and one assistant. I remained in ECE after returning home in 2000. At St Philomenas Montessori preschool in Honolulu. My child was born May 2008, who at 1-year-old was diagnosed with a life threatening peanut allergy. I joined the SAHM army. My skills include extensive training in ECE with a focus on infant care, safe food handling practices, expert in preventing cross contamination, I can make a game out of literally anything and have taken infant and child CPR more than a dozen times
