About Shawna

I started working with kids in my early 20's. We moved to Seattle in my teens, (from Kahalu'u) and after managing espresso bars I had one in Seattle Children's Hospital, started volunteering and was inspired. I was chosen for the Americorps NCCC and served my country for over a year, and worked the Western Region doing community service projects. Working with at-risk youth was inspiring! I was given the opportunity to be lead teacher of an infant room with 6 infants and one assistant. I remained in ECE after returning home in 2000. My child born May 2008, who at a year old was diagnosed with a level 5 life threatening peanut allergy. And became a stay at home Mom. I homeschooled my daughter until kindergarten. She is now 17 and we are exceptional at keeping her safe. My skills include safe food handling practices, expert in preventing cross contamination, I can make a game out of literally anything and have taken infant and child CPR more than a dozen times
