About Sharon

Sharon was the first companion for our wonderful mother, 94, who lived alone and was fiercely independent, but was beginning to be forgetful and not eating well. We (her adult children) were in the area, but all working full time, so Mom was alone a lot. She was adamantly opposed to having a caregiver, but Sharon won her over with her calm and respectful manner. (I'm not here for you so much as for your children, who will worry less if they know I am looking in on you every day.") She never "told" Mom what to do, but she engaged her in conversation, card games, and ate meals with her. Mom's depression lifted when Sharon was with her. She accompanied Mom to concerts, lunches out, and even family parties. While Mom slept late, Sharon quietly straightened up and took care of light cleaning that Mom was no longer keeping up with, but would not allow anyone else to do.
