Registered Nurse with Bachelors Degree since 2002. -Worked at a pediatric facility for children with severe developmental issues for two years. -Worked at a pediatric facility for children and teen with mental/ psychological issues for 6 years. -Worked in the SICU & ED for approx 3 years. -Parent to a NICU baby, where I was NOT her nurse, I did everything for her. She had an ostomy, stoma, NEC 2B, Vent, Tension Pneumo, RDV, RSV, (multiple,) required placement of trach, multiple IV and Central Line. -Volunteer Adoption Escort (S Korea, Guatemala, Uganda, Congo, India to the USA,)Children ranged from moderate special needs to severe special needs, also some with no known or apparent issues as well. Ages 2 months to 14 years. I still do this as needed, started 2004. I have always been a natural caregiver, even when I was a little kid my parents would find me doing tasks with my siblings. Aside from my experience as a RN, as a parent of a NICU baby, Though I was not my daughters nurse, they staff new I was and I pretty much did everything for her, 63 days I spent in the NICU. I can relate to having your hands full and needing some time to yourself. Having both the nursing education, nursing experience, volunteer (DRC, India, Sri Lanka) experience along with 11 years of parenting (alone the first 7) experience I think made me a much better caregiver.
Bachelor's, 2002
