I received my CNA as a teenager and even received my EMT certification in college. I have taken several courses on CPR but am not currently certified. My experience has been hands on with my mother n law for over 6 years. She suffered with dementia and Alzheimer's. She required round the clock care during her later years, I cooked her meals and changed her bed linens, helped her dress, bathe and use the toilet. Administered her medications. I did her laundry and cleaned her room. I took her to all her appointments and shopping if needed. I also made sure her bills were paid and set up auto pay for her. Dementia is a challenging disease, things can get volatile quickly, I learned to keep things low key and calm.
