I worked as a direct care professional providing in-home care to adults with disabilities for over 5 years. It was such a pleasure to help these folks be more independent and enjoy more freedom in their lives! I helped them with all activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, cooking, housekeeping, shopping and going on outings, money management, planning fun activities, and just spending time enjoying each other's company. I then spent the next 6 years working in a mental health setting working with adults with mental health needs. There I also helped individuals meet their daily needs and meet their personal goals. For the past 6 years, I have been teaching teens business skills. But the best experience I could have had was being the primary caregiver to my great grandparents. I am very familiar with working for people that suffer memory loss, mood changes, depression and anxiety, and a variety of physical needs. Patience and love are what makes a good provider
