About Portia

With more than 6 years of tutoring experience, I have the skills to help your child succeed. I have tutored elementary, middle, and high school students in a range of subjects. I began tutoring in middle school as a volunteer in a second grade classroom. Since then I have continued as a tutor in private and semi-private contexts. I love working with kids and young adults because, from my own experience, having that one person showing enthusiasm for a subject can make all the difference in how I take in the information and I hope to be that person. I find it really important to strike a balance of working hard and keeping it light hearted. I think the math can be fun and bringing an upbeat energy is important.
