My past experience working with people with special needs includes 2 years of work at Stepping Stones Learning Center in Rochester, NY at a child care facility designed to provide care for children and youth ages 0-22 with and without special needs. At Stepping Stones, my work as a Behavioral Assistant was primarily centered around both group and 1:1 therapy with young people who have autism and down syndrome, but I have experience working with people who have many different physical, behavioral, and social-emotional needs. I have worked with people on various skills such as communication (for those who are nonverbal), organization, engagement in group activities, managing emotions, learning routines, and more. In addition to my experience with youth with special needs, I have worked with school age children with trauma histories who are experiencing social-emotional or behavioral difficulties that are impacting their lives. Feel free to ask me any questions about my experience!
