Caring for children with special needs is something I am extremely passionate about, and very experienced with. I am majoring in speech pathology and plan on focusing in early intervention working with children who have Autism. I volunteered 40 hours a week at a summer camp for children and adults who had a range of mental and physical disabilities for 6 summers throughout middle school and high school. I have 11 years of babysitting experience and 5 years of experience babysitting children with special needs (I care for a brother and sister ages 4 and 6 who are both on the autism spectrum). I also know someone who has a variety of learning disabilities so I am very much able to relate to the frustrations of watching a child struggle. I believe this is the reason I am extremely patient and believe in focusing on a child's abilities rather than their disabilities.
