About Melanie

Hello! I have 13 years of childcare experience with ages ranging from infants to adolescents. As an involved aunt to 9 nieces and nephews, I cherish being part of their development! Prior experience includes after-school care, summer daytime care, and teaching English in Thailand for 4 months. I now work as a yoga therapist, educating families in shelters on self-regulatory practices. I also conduct research and play with kids in family shelters to learn about resilience processes. I value adapting to families' ongoing needs and preferences. During care, I believe in meeting a child where they are in each moment by honoring their emotions and guiding them to explore their adaptive abilities. Sensory-enriching experiences are key to development, so I strive to weave in mindfulness-based practices in play by gently encouraging observation, curiosity, and imagination. I prefer to spend more time outside with kids, wherever possible!
