In high school for three years I had a class where I was allowed to be the art teacher's assistant. She worked with the majority of the children and I worked with the four special needs kids in her class. It was my favorite part of the day. I loved everything about it and I still go visit the ones that are still in school. Since then, I have babysat two children with special needs. One with autism and one born premature which caused him to mentally and physically develop slower than others. He also had to be hooked up to a feeding tube at night.
