As a preschool teacher for 30 years, I adapted my teaching techniques to children with various levels of learning abilities. My work as Therapeutic Support for example was with a 3 yr. old boy who was diagnosed with PDD and only spoke a few words. I followed the BSC's treatment plan for ABA that proved to be highly effective. In 2 years, the child made advances to full sentences and it helped him to stay focused, stay on task and his self-stimulation behavior decreased. For 3 yrs. I nannied a child with Down Syndrome. I assisted his Early Intervention Therapists by providing fun and creative activities for him to practice new skills during the week. The therapists were impressed with the progress he made to reach his goals. My goal would be to work with you and your child's therapists as a team so that your preschool child can achieve this type of progress, as well! I can come to your home one morning a week to work on therapies through play while parents get a couple hours break.

Mary Kay was a caregiver for a child that I saw for PT for early intervention sessions for over a year. Mary Kay was always engaged with the suggested activities, practiced them with me in the sessions, and carried them out throughout the week. She always made therapy activities fun and was very creative in applying strategies in different ways throughout the day and week. She had great questions and observations for me when I would come for sessions which helped me know where to help next.
