I moved into a paraprofessional job at the request of a friend and never left. I retired from the school system after 35 years. Spend the last years as a caregiver. And am HCA license by the Wa. state. Just finished my Developmental Disabilities certificate. And am background checked and fingerprinted by DSHS. There have been many changes over the years. We have learned so much about so many disabilities. Care has much more depth now, and it will only get better. I have been CPI certified.

To Whom it May Concern: I am writing on behalf of Marla. I highly recommend Marla. I have had the pleasure of working with and supervising Marla for the last three years. She has been working as a full-time paraeducator, serving students with cognitive and physical disabilities, in the transition program at a Middle School. Working as a paraeducator in a transition program, necessitates an ability to work with a wide range of students, school professionals, parents, and other staff. When I first began working with Marla I was immediately impressed with her ability to adapt to the different needs and styles of each of these groups. She was always able to jump into a situation and build rapport and a respectful relationship with both students and staff. Each day Marla was responsible for organizing her daily materials, leading student groups, and managing individual educational and behavioral programs. Marla was a wonderful multi-tasker and was able to do all these things with ease. Marla was frequently faced with difficult student situations and interpersonal staff conflicts. Marla was always able to negotiate these situations and make decisive decisions about how to respond appropriately. Marla has excellent written and verbal communication skills, is organized, thorough, and reliable. Marla can work independently and is able to follow through to ensure that the job gets done. She accomplishes tasks with great initiative, passion, and with a very engaging personality. Based upon my experiences with Marla, I strongly recommend her for your consideration. Please feel free to get in touch with me if you have any further questions with regard to her abilities or qualifications. Sincerely, Taylor Special Education Teacher
