I am a student at Towson University in the Occupational Therapy Program. I am going into my fourth year and have taken many courses dealing with people with special needs. Growing up, I spent a lot of time with my cousin who has spina bifida. Throughout middle school and most of high school, I wanted to become a special education teacher. I got to witness my cousin working with an Occupational Therapist and it changed my mind. I volunteered at a camp that summer where I got to be a one-on-one aide with a 6-year-old boy with autism. He barely talked but we got along so well and it was a summer that really opened my eyes to realize I want to spend my life working with kids with special needs. 5 years later, it is still my passion.
