I worked for CHC of NJ for seven great years! I worked with adults who have developmental disabilities in their home and also out in the community. I assisted with day to day life of helping with hygiene, household chores, meal preparation, administering medications, appointments, and running errands. We planned lots of recreational activities in and out of the home always trying to stay busy. For 4 years I worked at the Career Designs Program where we went out in the community and volunteered for local organizations. This gave the individual's a great opportunity to use their time to help out and be of service to their community. It was great for community integration, building skills, working on task completion, assisted self esteem/self worth and meeting personal individualized goals. Personally, I also have a close family member with CP.
