I have grown up with a little brother who has autism and volunteered with special Olympics my entire life. I also have worked for a private family for a young man with autism. I would work on motor, language, and social skills with him. For the past couple years I have worked in a group home with residents of all different backgrounds including autism, multiple personality disorders, schizophrenia, depression, etc. I am comfortable working with all ages and skill levels. I have worked with non verbal individuals and individuals with aggressive behaviors before. In the group home, I would work with the individuals teaching them independent living skills, community based skills, and communication skills. I have attended multiple training's for disabilities and have rigorous coursework in disability training with my rehabilitation graduate program.
