About Mahin

My name is Mahin and I'm currently seeking a new position as a nanny for a loving family. I have over 20 years of experience raising children from infancy to young adulthood and during that time, I've worked with amazing families, many of whom I still keep in touch with. I love children and have raised two sons of my own. My youngest son provides missions support for the Federal Air Marshal and my oldest son is an assistant professor of English/creative writing in New York. I am an immigrant to this country (we came here from Iran in 1988) but because education is so important to me, both my sons have earned their masters and beyond. I was a teacher in Iran and loved teaching history and geography. In this country where I had to work in order to support my children, I could not study but I never forgot the importance of education. I think that being a nanny is also like being a teacher in many ways. It is important to me to help children learn, grow, and discover. I think of myself as a very warm, honest, and hard working person. People tell me I am very generous and hospitality is very important to me. I have good friends and a happy family life and I try to learn new things all the time. Besides education, respect, honesty, manners, and kindness are very important qualities to me and I've raised my own children, as well as the ones of families I've worked for, to value these traits. I think it's important to find those activities that children love to do and encourage them. Every child is unique and has different interests and my job is to help them discover what they love to do. Over many years, I've raised children who love books more than playing outside and the opposite also. I try to get them to try out new things and maybe they love it and maybe they don't, but at least they try. I love to cook and many children enjoy learning about food with me. I take them to parks and story time at the library, and to museums, especially in the summer when they have more time off from school. As mentioned above, I've been a nanny for over 20 years and I cannot imagine doing anything else. I have extensive experience with infants, toddlers, and young children through young adults. The last family I worked for had a beautiful baby boy, but they relocated and I was unable to commute. I worked for the family prior for 11 years, and helped raise their wonderful sons. My goal is to find a family to form a long-term relationship with, a family who values education, respect, and open lines of communication. Raising children and working in the house is about honesty and respect and for me, this is most important. I am a great nanny and I know my value and I want to find a family with children that respect that value. A family where we talk about goals for the children to make sure that they are growing and learning in the best way.
