I have babysat for children with a wide range of special needs. I have babysat for an old neighbor for three weeks straight whose son had violent out bursts. I asked him to do his homework once and he wrestled me to the ground, sat on me and then locked himself in the bathroom and threw stuff. I sat outside the door to make sure he didn't hurt himself but gave him the time and space to calm down. I spent a summer babysitting an 11-year-old boy with autism. A 10 10-year-old girl in a family I babysat from had behavioral issues to the point where it got physical. I was able to create a relationship with her where she respected and listened to me. I also have experience with severally handicap children. A friend of mine has 10 siblings all with disabilities. I have feed them through their feeding tubes and helped change some of the old children's dippers and give them their medications. I am also minoring in special education and have already completed some classes.
