I am pleased to write a reference for Lucy who was my Mother's caregiver for the last 3 years. My Mother lived in a suburb of Atlanta without any remaining relatives and was firm in her desire to live out her life in her home, My sister and I live in the Northeast; making our long-distance care more challenging. Having tried several other caregivers, we were incredibly fortunate to have met Lucy. Lucy cared for our mother with compassion, patience, respect, and a great deal of humor. My Mother grew increasingly frustrated with her declining health and decreasing mobility and could be short tempered. Lucy had the experience to understand that these moments were not personal attacks and always remained positive and upbeat. She and my Mother developed a very close bond over the 3 years that they lived together. Elder care of this level takes a tremendous amount of experience and understanding.
