I have developed a love for children with special needs since my 5-year-old son was born. My son has been diagnosed with intellectual disability and epilepsy. While this may not be something typically shared with employers, I feel that my experiences have made me an extremely compassionate person and very understanding of children with all types of needs and abilities, as well as their families. It has also challenged me to think outside the box when it comes to working with children. I have worked at two child care centers for a total of 3 years, caring for children between 6 weeks and 7 years of age. One of these centers was designed to especially include care for children with special needs, including: emotional, intellectual, and physical disabilities. I also worked in the past for a mental health center, providing after-school care for children with Asperger's syndrome, Autism, ADD, and Psychological illnesses. I am currently CPR and first aid certified. I previously served in the Army Reserves as a medic and worked as a nursing assistant, so I have a lot of experience with various medical conditions.
