Before I go on with this review, I just want to say that I highly recommend Ligia to anyone looking for help for their loved one. She easily gets a 5-star, 10/10, or a 110% review from me! Ligia cared for my 99-year mother (Mom) during the most difficult part of her life. Mom had a very weak heart for over a decade, had a stroke, and was under Hospice Care when Ligia came into our lives. During her lifetime, Mom, a Medical Doctor herself, and a super independent woman, had NOT wanted anybody’s help. Period. And thus, it had been impossible to find someone to help with her care. In short, Mom did not trust anyone, and always found a myriad of reasons to reject potential help. That was, until Ligia came into her life. Ligia was so professional, loving and caring, that dear Mom could not help to instantly fall for her. Mom’s favorite activity was reading but could no longer see (legally blind), and that is how the two bonded the most in this final stage of her life. Ligia would read Mom’s beloved Sunday New York Times, translated to Spanish no less. She would read to her scientific publications, the National Geographic magazine (front to back), and Mom’s favorite book: the Spanish classic “El ingenioso hidalgo don Quixote de la Mancha”, with over 1200 pages of very challenging reading! And of course, Ligia did help with everything else around the house (feeding, walking, bathroom visits and so on); and to summarize, that is why Mom loved Ligia like she was her own daughter, and that is why I can recommend her wholeheartedly to anyone looking for help caring for a loved one.
