We hired Kristina to do overnights for my mother-in-law. She did two shifts and then an hour and 45 minutes before her next shift, she texted in to say the job wasn't for her, leaving us in the lurch for coverage. She had not made us aware of any problems she had during her shifts and though we asked her to call us so we could talk about what happened, we did not hear back from her. She was kind enough to say we did not have to pay her for the two shifts she did work.
