Hello my name is Karen I have 3+ yrs of experience as a direct support professional.. I have worked with high functioning individuals and low functioning. I have worked with many different challenges from blindness, assistance with walking and toileting and assisting people in wheelchairs . From down syndrome to cerebral palsey . At the moment I work in a day program that gets them out into the community and gets them to socialize and maybe get them a job. I also work in a residential home with 3 guys in wheelchairs. I blend their food, feed them and bathe them as well as take them out for a drive or to the park I have worked with non verbal individuals as well . It is an emotionally rewarding job.
