About Kaitlyn

I like working with kids because I find them easy to empathize with. They're easily understood and don't make decisions with malicious intent. If we have a problem it's easily worked out and with enough communication we can usually end up at a solution where everyone is happy. I started working with kids when I was 11, volunteering at churches and babysitting for family friends. I've always found connecting with kids easier than connecting with adults or people my age, so I grew a connection with the kids that many adults didn't. When it comes to childcare skills, I think my best attribute is my ability to de-escalate. I'm a naturally very patient person, and I hate yelling. I think that when you handle an emotional meltdown or a fight between siblings you have to ensure that your emotions aren't going to intensify the child's emotions.
