About Joy

Hi there, I'm Joy (they/them)! I am an educator, activist, artist and cyclist. I have worked with kids as a special education educator, an after-school program coordinator, a PCA, and have nannied for 7 different families with kids from 2 months - 12 years old. I am an active, engaging, creative, and adaptable caregiver. It has been an honor to be a part of raising young people, and I have learned so much from each kid I've worked with. I value hands-on learning, fostering children's natural curiosity, and practicing emotional regulation, consent, and cooperation. I approach childcare collaboratively, presenting kids with a variety of enrichment activities and following their lead with what they gravitate towards. I enjoy spending time with kids outside (at the beach, riding bikes, on nature walks), making art, reading, make-believe and acting, having dance parties, building things out of cardboard, engaging with the community, cooking and baking, and teaching/speaking Spanish.
