As a child and into my early teenage years, my mom used to take me to work with her at a local elementary school where she worked with children with special needs. She has been in the profession for almost 2 decades and I always loved what she did and going to work with her. I connected with the kids so well my mom always said I was meant to work with them. I started my first degree in education to pursue this dream but later found out I didn't really want to be a teacher. When I lived in Hawaii I decided to give it another chance and I started working as a Paraprofessional with grades pre-k through 12. I worked in this position for about 1. 5 years and my training included positive reinforcement, behavior modification and safety care with monthly continuing education. I now am in a second degree nursing program and will hopefully get to work with all kiddos one day as an RN!
