In high school I began working with children with special needs at an after school program in Needham, MA. During my time at The Charles River Center, I familiarized myself with a variety of special needs and learned how to better accommodate these students in both a classroom and recreational setting. After graduating Keene State College last May, with a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education, I began working in Medfield as a 1:1 Inclusion Facilitator for two 3rd grade boys. One student is autistic and the other has Down syndrome. I thoroughly enjoy working with both of my students. Though I want to be a general education classroom teacher, my time working as an IF has inspired me to eventually get my Masters degree in special education. I honestly could not ask for a more rewarding and humbling experience and would love to continue working with children with special needs into the summer months.
