About Emily

I'd describe my personality as gentle, welcoming, and open. I like working with kids because I love their creativity! I'm looking to supplement my income without changing my life. I started working with kids n high school as an after school nanny. I continued in the summers between college as a teacher for a preschool, after college I taught pre-k for two years at YFS, and worked for several years in various positions in public schools. In my spare time, I like to hike, forage, and garden! One thing you should know about me is I am a licensed educator and feel very strongly about not overusing discipline when redirecting is an option. I feel children are good at heart and have no ill intentions - usually a child is not "giving you a hard time", but is in fact having a hard time themselves. My skills include tutoring, creative play, and encouragement.
