Assisted Living / Dementia Care Unit Manager now entrepreneur. I recently started my own Dementia Care Education business and I work caregiver jobs to supplement income. Early to mid-dementia care is my specialty, (but not a requirement). Able to drive clients to hair appt., grandchild's concert/game, be a "friend" to a resistant client. Escort to doctor appt. w/notes -just like if you were there. Shifts could be: weekends, overnight, vacation coverage, respite care or intermittent. For example, I do a respite job caring for a couple when their daughter and son-in law go out of town or need a "date night" out and away from the responsibilities of caregiving. Like the headline says, I am not your everyday caregiver. I try to make it fun when I come over. I might bring treats, or maybe we cook a favorite dish, or call the grandchildren. I cost a little more ($25/hr.) and worth it. My client's daughter said: "Always glad when Ellen is here, I never have to worry about anything."

Ellen has cared for my disabled parents in my home for respite care. Ellen is very thoughtful, cheerful, creative and fun, making her care giving time something my parents look forward to. She is also very dependable, tidy, thorough and flexible. We appreciate her knowledge of seniors and dementia. I would definitely recommend Ellen as a caregiver!
