Over the years I have worked with many children with different forms of special needs. My main goal is to treat every child as if there was nothing different. I find what works for the individual child and go from there. For some it was reading to them, as they read to themselves, others it was telling them stories to help them understand what we were doing. For some it was finding what the child enjoyed the most and centering everything around that. My goal is to help children be themselves, to know they are special for other reasons than they have a special need. The primary type I have been a nanny for was ADHD, ADD, and autism.
