There are no words that can give justice to what an amazing gift Elise was to my family. She was the rock of peacefulness and strength to us at any moment that a family life and motherhood can bring. She was the second mother to my 2 children, they love her. She taught my very resistant older daughter how to read, she played imaginative nature games in our garden and in the woods with my younger daughter for hours, and pulled her in the wagon or “camped” in the yard and did cloud watching. We had just moved to Chattanooga and Elise unpacked and organized all of our stuff so it turned into a home. She did all the shopping for us. The groceries, the art supplies- and did every kind of errand possible. She’s also an incredible cook and perhaps the best food I tasted here in Chattanooga was Elise’s cooking. She stocked out pantry with pickled items that she pickled HERSELF and they lasted us a year! She even taught my friends how to pickle. She knows a lot about healthy eating and she taught my children about healthy eating habits. She was incredibly punctual, responsible and reliable, and I don’t think she was EVER late in the time that she worked with us! She would pick the most amazing books for us at the library, she has an exquisite literary taste, just as an amazing educator would. More than that, she’s travelled across half of the world and she was able to share her wisdom, culture and worldliness with us, which is a huge value for us.
