I have always loved the English language and teaching. When I was in high school, I would spend time together with Japanese students at the local college and help them with their English as a Second Language (ESL) homework. When I was in college, I tutored English to my fellow students. I loved reading their essays and applying my knowledge of English to them. During my employment at Gwinnett Department of Family and Children Services, I worked with refugees for several years. I handled their applications for government assistance. I learned to be patient with those who knew little to no English. In the early 2000s, I was involved with refugees through my church. I participated in teaching Sunday School lessons to the children, and I was a private English tutor for several months to a Sudanese refugee. During a mission trip to China, I prepared lessons and taught English to university students. My TEFL certificate is from Bridge Education Group, Inc., Denver, CO.
